The traditional ‘Zoo Palast’ at the Zoological Garden, originally called the ‘Palasttheater am Zoo’, has been showing films since 1915. Historic works of film history such as ‘Metropolis’ from the Roaring Twenties premiered here. From 1957 to 1999, the Zoo Palast was the central competition cinema of the Berlinale. This makes the listed building one of the most important cinemas in Germany. In 2013, the Zoo Palast was reopened after extensive refurbishment in keeping with its listed status. The cinema now has a capacity of around 1,700 seats. Since 2014, it has also once again hosted the Berlinale.

REELAB is currently working with our partner TEAM FÜR TECHNIK GmbH on behalf of the lessor to inspect the building fabric for compliance with the lessee’s and lessor’s obligations. In addition, we provide technical advice on the design of the lease extension.
